27th-Jul-2009 11:51 pm - ¡viva la comic con 2009!
I'm back from Comic Con and my internet works! Whoo! I'm happy about the internet, but sad about Comic Con being over! Saw a lot of celebs, twittered more than I ever do, and was featured in the "Maxim's best Comic Con costumes of 2009 (and probably a bunch of other stuff too). Also, Alie and I got 4 free tickets to a special VIP dance on Saturday night, but because we were so wiped out (we woke around 3am that morning) we didn't go, despite me wanting to.

CC 2009 pictures!

Here are the two costumes I did.
Friday I was Mag from "Repo the Genetic Opera" and Saturday I was an interpretation of the Smoke Monster from "Lost" (which got a bunch of pictures and won me the "best costume" and VIP tickets).

BLEH, my fat arms! D:

Check out Alie! She was an interpretation of the Donkey Wheel from "Lost."

8th-Feb-2009 06:07 pm - costume help/suggestions
What do you people know about fabrics and costuming? I'm trying to darken this awesome material I bought for my Mag (from Repo) outfit, but the material is too light.

I bought some navy blue spray on fabric and I was thinking of spraying the back of the fabric to darken it (keeping the design on the front) as well as adding some metallic green paint, but I don't know if that should go on the back or front (fear it'll erase the silver reptile style if on the front, and not show up if on the back.) Mom suggested using black tea to darken it...

I don't know what to do to darken it and add either green or purple to it; and I tried to find some spray (colored green or purple) that'd shine that color only in the light... but someone at the Repo Road Tour said it was called Interference... It's this gloss that you spray on the fabric and it looks clear, but it shines a color in the light... and I couldn't find anything like that.

Here's what I BOUGHT;

Fabric is a smooth polyester/double knit material.

Here's the ACTUAL fabric;

4th-Jul-2006 12:31 am - I HAVE REALLY BAD BLISTERS
More notes to self on costuming:

COMIC CON:
Find white lab coat and make Dharma scientist costume for LOST panel. CAROLYN, you still want to do this? I remember you mentioning you wanted to do it and I'm so up for it if you are. Let's freak out the producers. XD

Find longer black coat. I swear, I thought the Constantine one I had was longer, but upon wearing it for the first time, I made a mistake and need to make a trip back out to the cheap clothing store to find a longer coat thingee.

...Fix damn Shotgun too...

Get brown wig for Dwight and possible coat unless the one I have works. (If it isn't too girlie.)

UPCOMING:
Fix damn Shige instrument and use better materials so it won't break on me whilst in the car. -_-;

23rd-May-2006 09:33 pm - Sewing is EVIL
I can't sew, I can't sew, I can't sew, I can't especially sew when I have to get a costume (was costumes) due by Wednesday night. No Shige and Byakuya for Fanime. Going to have to bring some older costumes with me and remember NOT TO START SEWING SO FRIGGIN' LATE... I don't work well under pressure and fuck up... Even when I have patterns.

Arrrrrrrrrrr!

My poor man hands that can't thread the machine well aren't happy... They're sore, bloody and have their nails bit from stress. :( But my feet like these Tabi socks! So comfortable!

I CAN'T BLOODY SEW...

And I can't find that X-Men 3 novelization book :/ I'm going to be missing the opening... Unless I can convince someone to go with me while in San José. *Wink ALIE Wink*
Screw you *Constantine*

19th-Jul-2004 03:00 am - Mom's being mean again
Aiy, yi, yi! Now she's arguing with me about being too influenced with movies and even has Jeff backing her up. Just because I said I relate myself with a character, she goes and says that's he's fictional and not real and I shouldn't say I'm a significance to a troubled one...

I need to get grounded into reality and not think too strongly on stuff that isn't real, she said. She also went and said that I might not have the stability to work in hollywood because of my emotional problems... I only get teary when a family member criticizes me... And hence is when I get really pissy too.

If I was too influenced by fiction, then I'd actually be happy in life.

-Mumbles and smacks something near by-

I went to a bday party for my dad and niece. It was fun, got to see my dad's family again! I went swimming with the kids, it was great! I've now been invited to go to Las Vegas with them on August 13-16! Hell yes I'm going!

Comic Con in: 3 days There's so much I want to do there, especially go stalk Cillian Murphy...

Here's my wraith costume before we bleached and dyed it!

17th-Jun-2004 01:12 pm - Cosplay Props
Around 6am I got artistic and made two prop pieces for my costumes planned for my conventions.

God, I love this thing! I spent about $10 on it and worked on it for about an hour and came out with this! Better than spending the $35 for the already made.

I'm keeping this costume a secret until I get a better shot/till I'm in full costume.
I dressed up as my Kiba costume, minus some stuff, but had the ducktape on my breasts... The jacket is still semi tight around my hips. DAMN YOU HIPS! I need to find a way to make my hips smaller!

This one took forever! I'd tried different effects on the first pair and kept getting burnt by the glue gun! After trying some experiments, and tearing off the cardboard, my glove ripped... It also looked like crap with the excess glue. So... I got a pair of thicker, more expensive gloves that I've had for a while and used these, trying a different effect.

It worked! And also didn't burn as bad when applying the cardboard to the glove while attached to my hand. Needless to say, I have a lot of burn marks and a painful water blister on my middle finger. Ow!

I'm really excited about the Anime Expo and Comic Con...

Tomorrow, I'm going to San Diego to go: GHOST EXPLORING!
